I can’t believe it’s already the end of spring season, and I still can’t feel the breeze of summer yet. More than the advent of summer, we at Kalayaan Inc. are all excited about the coming the Philippine Independence Day Gala Night on June 15, 2024.

Newly inducted Kalayaan President/Chairman Erlinda Granada-Sabah heads this year’s celebration, a must-attend event for many community leaders in Southern California. The Kalayaan Inc., one of the most prestigious community organizations in the Greater Los Angeles Area, has been at the forefront of the annual celebration of the Philippine Independence Day in this part of the United States, which reflects our pride of our country’s history, heritage and culture. It is a great time for us Filipinos in Southern California to get together and show our love for our country and our fellow Filipinos.

The program this year 2024 will highlight the three beautiful ladies to be crowned that night. For this year’s program, the all-star cast of Karim and Jasmin production will provide entertainment for the night, sponsored by MRG Services Incorporated and Mi Amore.

Pia Legaspi and birthday celebrant Dr. Ramon Sison Geluz at Mi Amore.

The “Karim and Jasmin” musical show will feature a Filipino opera, with an original Liberato and music composed by Dr. Ramon Sison Geluz.  The cast includes veteran and well-known performers, to name a few, Felson Palad as Karim, Kit Navarro as Jasmin, and Stephanie Reese as Rajita.

Edith Andres, Dr. Lani Raquel, Joseph Gelito and birthday celebrant Dr. Ramon Sison Geluz having a good time while singing during karaoke time.

Volunteer performers, like Joseph Gelito, Annie Nepumoceno, and Edwin and Dr. Lani Raquel, will also be in the opera.  The production is, of course, headed by Dr. Ramon Sison Geluz.

MRG Services Inc. provides production services for  fundraising shows, providing unique and entertaining experience for all attendees. They are dedicated to produce high-quality performances and show the different talents of every performer.

The Mi Amore of Pia Legaspi is one of the biggest Salad Master dealerships in California and is based in Cerritos.

“Jasmin and Karim” will have its full production on Saturday, June 29, in Wilshire Ebell Theater at 7 p.m.  If you are interested to watch a sample of their production, you can meet and see them at the Kalayaan event on Saturday, June 15, at Hyatt Regency in Garden Grove. I hope you can watch the complete “Karim and Jasmin” opera at Ebell Theater.  For inquiries about the show, you may email Dr. Geluz at rsgeluz@yahoo.com.
